This week we have carried out a complete refurbishment of a tired and damaged staircase. We made use of pine faced mdf to clad the strings and treads, the newels have been boxed in with pine to give the feel of solid wood and all the hand rail, baserail and spindles have been replaced. The stairs is now a real feature in this house, not to mention much safer than before.
